A personal message from Dr. Dunn

I believe that a collaborative, open, and  trusting therapeutic relationship is a key ingredient in psychotherapy. Many individuals struggle in silence with personal and relationship troubles, and are hesitant to seek help.  I understand how difficult it can be to acknowledge problems and seek professional assistance. I bring my passion and compassion for wellness, along with expertise in college mental health, couples therapy, and individual therapy and my experience as a psychology professor to your treatment.  I work with my clients to tailor treatment to address their specific concerns.

I  utilize a strengths-based approach, meaning that I infuse positive psychology techniques and principles in psychotherapy.
I am passionate, compassionate, and I genuinely care about my clients' well-being. I work to understand the influence of "life circumstances" including cultural and social identities.

My experience and expertise

I graduated summa cum laude from The University of Notre Dame with a Bachelor’s Degree in  Psychology and Spanish. I earned my Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from The University of Maryland, College Park, and completed my clinical internship at Bellevue Hospital/ New York University Medical Center. I am bilingual, and can conduct therapy in English and Spanish.

I have experience teaching and researching in the field of psychology, and have held academic appointments at Teachers College, Columbia University, Towson University, and Saint Elizabeth University. I served as a staff counselor at Ramapo College of New Jersey, and have worked closely with diverse college students, staff, and faculty.

I have extensive experience working in a range of psychological settings including universities, hospitals, schools, and a community mental health center. I have enjoyed working with individuals of various genders, sexual orientations, racial/ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

I am a licensed psychologist in New Jersey  (#5656) and New York (#019544), with expertise in treating a range of psychological conditions. I have worked primarily with individuals (adults & adolescents) experiencing anxiety and depression, but I have training and expertise working with a range of psychological disorders.

I have specific interest and expertise in treating anxiety disorders using evidence-based approaches under the "CBT" umbrella.
