My commitments towards social justice and service are congruent Counseling Psychology's mission to train students as culturally-competent citizens, and astute consumers of psychological research. In my professional journey towards multicultural competence, I have become acutely aware of the roles exerted by cultural conditioning, and social group membership. I also readily realize how organizational and systemic policies can serve as barriers, especially for at-risk groups. In the spirit of confronting these obstacles, I eagerly engage in professional roles and duties in which I provide education, conduct research, and mentor students in their personal and professional journeys.
