Teaching Overview
I love mentoring students in research and teaching domains, and find that being a part of a university community brings me a sense of joy and personal satisfaction. I am proud that many of the undergraduate and graduate students that I have mentored have pursued advanced graduate programs in psychology, education, law, criminology, medicine, and social work. As an instructor, I aim to promote a culture of inclusiveness within my classroom by incorporating aspects of multiculturalism in nearly every class. I foster egalitarian relationships with my students, and supervisees, and I attempt to instill passion related to psychology, education, and social justice. With this passion, I believe that my students and supervisees can transform their lives, and the lives of others. My teaching evaluations reflect consistently high scores across key domains (e.g., teacher effectiveness, teacher approachability, teaching methods, teacher ability to convey material).
I have taught several graduate (Group Counseling, Advanced Counseling Techniques, Advanced Abnormal Psychology) and undergraduate courses (Cross-Cultural Psychology, Introduction to Helping Relationships) in the psychology department at Towson University and other courses at Teachers College, Columbia University and The University of Maryland, College Park. I have mentored graduate and undergraduate honors students through the Towson thesis programs.
